Thankfulness Exemplified

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.” Colossians 3(15)

It is regrettable concerning the lack of true thankfulness in much of our society today. The Apostle Paul confirmed this truth in II Timothy 3(1-2); “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy.” In this age of rampant unthankfulness, it is of utmost importance that we as Christian ministers and workers send forth a powerful message of thanks and appreciation to God and others.

We glean from the scripture that thankfulness is really a state of being. Words of thanks are necessary but being truly thankful is accomplished through a life of gratitude. Thanks is defined as an expression of gratitude. We are called upon to exemplify thankfulness in our life. The word exemplify is defined as follows; “To show by example; serve as an example of.” We are to show forth a sincere spirit of thanks before God and others.

We are to live an exemplary life of thankfulness radiating a spirit of gratitude to all we meet. As we do this, our life will be an inspiration and blessing to others. In this Spirit of thankfulness we enter God’s House and His presence. “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him and bless his name.” Psalm 100(4) “Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.” Psalm 95(2)

May our lives echo words of thanksgiving backed up by our actions and deeds!
